One of the first Dutch sound films was the documentary that Joris Ivens made for Philips. He was given all the freedom he wanted, as long as he didn't film outside the factory or tackle any social issues. Yet the film looks at working conditions in the factory as well as the manufacture of Philips products. The sound was recorded by Lou Lichtveld, better known as Albert Helman, in a studio in Paris.
