Part Time God is a visual reconnaissance of the paradox of chance and free will in human life. The world is shown through an interactive computer program which takes the viewer in an seemingly arbitrary way to different people in different countries. For instance, the viewers meet an artist in New York facing a breast amputation, a young grape-picker in France, a woman knitting and other people apparently chosen at random. With an ironic undertone, personal drama is juxtaposed with philosophical commentary. Scientists such as the Nobel-Prize winner Prigogine and the biologist Dawkins, appear at the bottom of the screen to state their theoretical viewpoints. In this way the viewer is confronted with different levels of perception and reality.
