The TV film Oud en nieuw (New Year's Eve) is a collaboration of director David Lammers and theatre group Dood Paard. In a plain decor, the plot evolves. Henry is divorced, works as a window cleaner and plays the drums in a successful band. Being an ex-alcoholic, he tries to put his past behind him. He manages to do so quite well, until near the end of the year so many bad things happen to him at the same time that he hits the bottle again. Initially, he manages to hide it from his surroundings, but soon Henri does not function anymore as he should. And of course it also has repercussions on his work and circle of friends. Only his nine-year-old son Boy understands the problem and tries to help him. But Henri becomes less and less reliable.
