Adaptation of Virginia Woolf's novel about a person who lived for 400 years, first as a man and then as a woman. The young nobleman Orlando is given several royal privileges at the court of Elisabeth I, on one condition: he is not allowed to get older or to disappear. Then there is a quest for love and dignity that starts as a man and ends as a woman in the fast-moving twentieth century.
