In the diurnal world, the nocturnal petrol station is a place where strange things happen. Thomas is gradually swept along into the menacing atmosphere, which may chiefly take place in his mind.
The originally American Thomas is on his first nightshift as a petrol station attendant. Troublesome customers, a gas thief, a stolid drifter and a passing bachelors party make it clear to him he is a stranger in a strange land. Still, he makes a connection where he least expected it.
