The Sound of Drumming is an episode from a new series of TV films, for which young directors and scriptwriters form partnerships. While carrying out her dreary work at the conveyer belt of a fish factory, Vera's thoughts wander off to her childhood in Africa. After a meeting with an African drummer in a beach tent, her life is controlled by a longing for him, his culture and the magnificent nature of Africa. Vera's sports loving friend desperately tries to keep his distracted girlfriend, but comes to the conclusion that primal forces cannot be stopped. A tragicomic surrealist fairytale about energy, primal forces and desire, told with rhythmic music and images.
