Documentary about an exceptional series of photographs that was found in the estate of photographer Anna Maria (Annemie) Wolff-Koller. In 1943, the year before the large-scale roundups, Annemie portrayed the Jewish people in her neighbourhood in Amsterdam-Zuid. Most of them would not survive the war. Together with survivors and relatives, the film looks at the pictures that testify to fear and hope, but also to trust in the woman behind the camera, who placed her own scarred life in the service of the persecuted.
