Poetic documentary about alienation and the feeling of not belonging anywhere. The documentary Noem het slaap (Call it Sleep) provides an impression of the eventful life of the American writer Henry Roth. The author, who died in 1995 at the age of 89, wrote his masterpiece Call it Sleep when he wasn't yet thirty and then suffered a writer's block that was to last more than 50 years. In recent years there has been renewed interest in his work.
