Lidija Zelovic fled from Sarajevo to the Netherlands when the civil war broke out. In this poignant video essay, she goes back and tries to find the origins of enemy stereotyping.

Lidija Zelovic grew up in Sarajevo and fled to the Netherlands in 1993 when the civil war broke out in her country. In this personal video essay, she looks back in amazement at how naïve she was back then. In her ‘true and honest film about the war’, Zelovic tries to find the origins of enemy stereotyping, in order to come to terms with her past. With her son, she goes back to her roots, her family and friends. Gradually, she reaches the conviction that the real war is raging within people - even within herself.
