Monet, Renoir, Degas and... Morisot. Who? Why is the name of the only woman among the founders of Impressionism unfamiliar to us? Colourful documentary portrait of a brave artist who broke social conventions.
Berthe Morisot (1841-1895) was the only woman among the founders of Impressionism, the innovative 19th century art movement. While her male colleagues - Monet, Degas, Pissarro, Sisley and Renoir – became world-famous artists, Morisot stayed relatively obscure as a painter. Why is this? The young artists from contemporary Paris portrayed in this documentary consider this lady’s militant life a source of inspiration for the woman as an influential force in society.
