Part of a trilogy (Egg, Milk, Honey) about the Turkish poet Yusuf at different stages in life. On Saturday 29 September, director Semih Kaplanoglu (Turkey, 1963) will deliver the Cinema Militans Lecture.
Second part of a trilogy about the Turkish poet Yusuf at different stages of life. Yusuf is on the verge of adulthood. He has just finished highschool. Poetry is his great passion and meanwhile a few of his poems have been published. But his future is uncertain and to support himself he has to keep selling milk on the market, together with his single mother. Yusuf tries to break away from his mother. Business is slack due to the upcoming supermarkets and his mother has a relationship with the local station master. The title refers to the physical bond between mother and son, which is cut off as soon as the breastfeeding stops.
