The love biologist Luuk Tinbergen cherished for the great titmouse has clearly been inherited by his son Tijs. In his third-floor apartment in Amsterdam, Tijs hangs up nesting boxes with built-in cameras. On a monitor in the bedroom, he studies the titmouse family with his wife Tineke and their cat Sientje. The love for the great tit is contagious; soon, the ‘bird virus’ is forced on family and friends. Captured with cheerful self-mockery, an urban passion unfolds for a highly natural phenomenon.
