Documentary about life in a complex of summer shacks near Amsterdam. Meerzicht (Lakeview), a recreational area by Kinselmeer was at first a refuge for workers from the capital. They came to swim and fish, built small huts and were eventually given permission to build a clubhouse. In the meantime, graduates and idealists have also found their way to the inimitably Dutch holiday homes and Meerzicht even has a democratically elected management. Filmmakers Janine Prins and Jet Homoet followed events for a season and shows how people with different ideas about recreation, ecology and privacy live together on a small site. This provides a picture of a community that magnifies contrasts and problems because of its small-scale. The script for Meerzicht was given an award at the IDFA scenario workshop in 1994.
