Marienborn, a village in the German woods, used to be world-famous. The eye of the needle between two worlds. The largest, most important and best-guarded border crossing behind the Iron Curtain. Day and night, thousands of people used to pass here, travelling back and forth between East and West. Long queues of cars and trucks wiggled their way across the asphalt. This was a train stop for the Express from Paris to Moscow. But after the collapse of the Wall, the place has fallen silent. The barbed wire is gathering rust, flowers grow through the asphalt and the small community tries to conquer its past.
