Johan van der Keuken shot a short film about the Chinese-born photographer To Sang, who has lived and worked in Amsterdam's Albert Cuypstraat for twenty years. Ramón Gieling made a full-length documentary about the making of this film, To Sang Photostudio. He followed Van der Keuken and his sound-woman Noshka van der Lely during that brief but very intensive process. It revealed a mechanism that has led to many misunderstandings. In fact Van der Keuken is making a poor man's feature, but one in which the protagonists gradually take control. People following Van der Keuken's activities with the camera, give their opinion on his work and the themes in it.
