An animal barely one millimetre long - the worm C. Elegans - is an amazing source of information about life. Ditected in to a bar code of 17,000 genes, it is the first animal that has been completely mapped genetically. Ronald Plasterk ties this in with how we regard life. Is there a soul as well as matter? Awarded the Boy Trip Award 1999.
