Highly stylised, alienating story about the deaf-and-dumb night porter of a hotel where strange things occur. For example, a ‘no vacancy’ sign repeatedly lights up, while all the keys are available. Only room 106 is used off and on by a mysterious woman, whom the night porter falls in love with. Mad with curiosity, he spies on her and her customers. Then, he discovers a man is being held prisoner in the hotel.
