Dao is a young Thai woman who arrives in the Netherlands to share the rest of her life with Michel. The confrontation with a man she hardly knows and with an unfamiliar country with its strange smells, tastes and habits adds to her feeling of uprootedness. She does not say much. She looks lost, captured in tautly framed, fixed images that are sustained for a long time. Does she realise only know what she has let herself in for?
