A city built for the future. In the late 1960s, these grandiloquent words accompanied the presentation of the Bijlmer - a suburban district full of high-rise buildings that was meant to push back housing shortage in Amsterdam. One of the showpieces was Kleiburg, four hundred metres long and eleven storeys high. Former residents, architects and other fans of the block of flats tell about the rise and fall of the controversial district. Apart from interviews, lots of archive footage and loving shots of the colossus that was doomed to be demolished.
