Using powerful visual rhyming, this colourful portrait of a sober-minded ten-year-old girl leaps back and forth between her devoted battle for the survival of the bee to her fight with her own disease.
When the level-headed Pien heard that half of the global bee population is dead, she was astounded. She decided to do something about it. With her friend Bouwe, she now guards the bee populations in the backyard, like the doctors guard her health - a while ago she was diagnosed with bone cancer. Using powerful visual rhyming, this subtle story leaps back and forth from the ten-year-old girl enjoying life and her bees to her hospital treatment. She dreams of going to the nectar-rich rape fields with her bees. Will she succeed?
