Contemporary television drama from the VARA series De smeltkroes (The Melting Pot) about a Dutch couple that offers a helping hand to a Ghanian refugee. When Katrien finds the Ghanian Maxwell in her cellar, she decides to offer him a new home with her friend Alexander. Her impulsive choice has far-reaching consequences. Before Maxwell finally says farewell to his own illusions, he turns the world of his Dutch `hostess' and her boyfriend. The storyline is reflected in computer animations of a cartoon strip by Alexander. In this a Dutch woman falls madly in love with a mysterious Asian. In the end this man seems to have betrayed her. Or not?
