In a big American clunker, writer Frans Thomése and his favourite protagonist J. Kessels undertake a road trip to Hamburg. Assigned by someone they do not know, they look for a sausage dealer, but the author is primarily interested in the promised reunion with the sexy girl that enchanted him in a distant past and gave him a youth trauma. In this dry-witted adaptation of P.F. Thomése’s cheerful picaresque novel, reality and fiction blend in an alienating way, set to a soundtrack of tear-jerking country music.
