In this documentary, the refugee experience gets up close and personal. A Syrian father who fled to the Netherlands wants to rescue his family who stayed behind, but is powerlessly awaiting the result of the asylum procedure.

The Syrian father Hassan has fled to the Netherlands to rescue his family. Via audio messages, he is in touch with his family, including his seriously ill daughter Yomna (15). While awaiting the result of his asylum procedure, Yomna desperately asks him when they can join him. Meanwhile, the situation back in Syria keeps deteriorating and Hassan starts questioning whether he made the right decision. With her documentary, Rickels shows the refugee experience from up close.
