Ton and Els are an average, happy couple eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first baby. When the child dies soon after birth, the couple’s life is completely thrown off balance. Ton is overcome with grief, while Els, with blinkers on, just pushes on and wants to get pregnant again as soon as possible. The insurmountable sorrow, driving an ever deeper wedge between them, is visualised in short, subdued scenes with little dialogue. Second part of Marco van Geffen’s VINEX trilogy about ‘the drama of the happy family’.
