Photographs, film fragments and an unusual soundtrack blending movie scenes and interview quotes evoke an image of the magical talent of one of out biggest actresses ever: Fien de la Mar (1898-1965).
Fien de la Mar (1898-1965) was an exceptional actress. She performed in revues and cabarets, but also featured in dramatic roles. The stage and film diva had the faculty to unreservedly reveal herself in her characters and did not give a rip about the distinction between high and low culture. Incorporating film fragments and photographs, this documentary evokes an image of the magic of Fien’s talent and of the euphoria and despair in her life, which ended tragically with a self-chosen death. The soundtrack plays a game with the sound from movie scenes and quotes from interviews about her.
