The empty nest syndrome also works the other way around: What does it feel like for a child to leave his or her parent(s) behind? The filmmaker examines this in two ways: completing the academy is also leaving a nest. De Jong puts her father and mother in front of the camera and asks questions. By explicitly playing with directions, the documentary forms an intriguing mix of fact and fiction that reality effortlessly shatters.
