Contemplation of the many faces of the sea, and of three people with individual reasons to entrust their lives to it. One of them is the director’s brother, who disappeared into the depths.

Lex, Rebecca and Miguel each have their personal reason to entrust their lives to the sea. Looking for a better place than the one they are in, they seek refuge in or on the water. Through the personal stories of these three people, the film explores issues that reach beyond: violence on cruises, suicide and illegale immigration. In this essayistic contemplation of the many faces of the sea, director Coco Schrijber also tries to find an answer to the question why her brother surrendered himself to the water.
