As a child, can you detach yourself from the idealised image your parents had in mind? The director reflects on her past and life (and those of her parents) in this intimate, poetical journey.
Vanesa’s parents are immigrants who in the 1970s escaped the dire poverty in Spain to chase their dream in the Netherlands. They worked for hours on end, for more than 45 years, with the aim to return to Spain rich. There, in a comfortable home full of Dutch porcelain and shining gold, they can finally rest. Vanesa herself lives in the Netherland and still feels caught in her family’s dream. Torn between two home bases, she dives into her past again. Slowly but gradually, Vanesa and her parents will have to face the harsh reality.
