History repeats itself - also in the family histories of two apparently totally different Dutchmen: one is the descendant of the first Moroccan immigrant, the other is of Dutch origin.
The 13-year-old Ashraf (13) tells his friend Hamid his family history. His grandmother, the wife of one of the first Moroccan immigrants in the Netherlands, was an outsider in her village. Parallel to this story, another family history unfolds, of the all-Dutch supermarket manager Johan. But what do these stories have in common? The eventual convergence leads to insight - not among the people involved, but with the viewer.
