Hendrik Groen may be old; he is far from dead and refuses to be defeated. His candid diary shows what life is like in a nursing home in Amsterdam-North.
Technically, Hendrik Groen is aged. But does this mean his life should only consist of drinking coffee and sullenly waiting for the end in his armchair? In twelve episodes, based on seemingly light-hearted, candid diary scenes, Groen makes the audience commiserate with the ups and downs of life in a nursing home. To the staff’s annoyance, he and his friends try to brighten life by making excursions with the 'old-but-not-dead club', in an attempt to allay the threat of the inevitable end. Strong performances, with the surprisingly cast comedian André van Duin in a serious role. The adaptation of the eponymous bestseller won Martin van Waardenberg a Silver Curly Tail for Best Scenario for a TV series.
