In February 1945, five hundred Soviet soldiers fled from a POW camp near Mauthausen. A hunt was immediately opened for them. Local villagers were recruited and told not to take prisoners and show no mercy. The event went down in history as the 'Mühlviertler Hare Hunt'. Awarded the Audience Award at Diagonale Festival des Osterreichischen Films 1994.
