In the international dance world, choreographer Hans van Manen (1932) is known for his boundless creativity and consistent quality. In a 40-year career as choreographer Van Manen has now devised 100 choreographies. In addition, he is also a renowned photographer focusing on the human body. In a documentary portrait, Van Manen talks in a spiritual and entertaining way about his life. Without using archive footage - apart from a few photos - the film shows Van Manen's personality and his international significance in the artistic field in twelve chapters.
