Documentary about the Amsterdam-based poet-composer Hans van Sweeden, who took his life in 1963, at the age of twenty-four. In a collage of interviews, relatives and friends talk about Hans' life, but also about their own. Thus, the film gives a telling portrait of the younger generation in Amsterdam in the turbulent fifties and sixties. In 1983, the film was awarded a Golden Calf and the Film Critics' Prize.
