Documentary about the North Holland artists' village of Bergen. The Bergen School came about soon after World War One around the painter Leo Gestel and art collector Piet Boendermaker. Many artists joined the school in the Twenties and gave the small coastal resort an international fame. Remembrances of artists still dominate the mood of Bergen as an artists' village. Using paintings and photos, the documentary looks at the heyday of the School and shows how the image of Bergen artists has changed over the years. The Bergen School has become as well known term. But did the artists from the village form a unity with the same goals?
