Composer Nader Mashayekhi changes Vienna for Teheran, carrying a suitcase full of dreams. Will he be able to combine his love of classical music with that of his motherland, with its adverse political climate?

After having studied, worked and lived in Vienna for years, the Iranian composer Nader Mashayekhi returns to his native country in 2005 to conduct the Teheran symphony orchestra. It is a dream, because Iran is not sympathetic towards classical and Western music. Filmmaker Frank Scheffer follows the passionate composer in his attempt to explain the essence of Mahler to young musicians, walking across a desolate desert landscape and an abandoned village, in search of inspiration for challenging performances. But also in Vienna, because two years later Mashayekhi is back, carrying the fragments of his dream in his suitcase. But what is not so easy to break is hope. Melancholic portrait, in which political developments are mere implicit background chords.
