Kothuis' adaptation of Gerard Reve's short story Lieve jongens. The film spans a day in the life of a boy (Alex van Warmerdam) whose war-time experiences make him obsessed by bombs flying over. To defend himself from his authoritarian and unsympathetic mother, he wears a pilot's uniform. One of the soldier games in the harbour brings him into contact with a boy and he finds out something about himself.
