Four short portraits of well-known and lesser-known Dutchmen, made for the legendary TV series, screened by the VPRO in the seventies.
Four short portraits of well-known and lesser-known Dutchmen. With an observing camera, the series successively shows an interview with a lonely elderly bachelor, who has been staying aloof from the other guests of a lodging house for twelve years; former successful whistler Jan Tromp who, against his wife's wish, considers making a come-back; painter Jakob Schot who escapes reality by translating the illusion of film images into erotic paintings; and finally the elderly writer Victor van Vriesland, who in the Kurhaus Hotel inhales the atmosphere of his childhood years.
