When 82-year-old Leo, the filmmaker’s father-in-law, progressively loses control of his life due to Alzheimer’s, he hangs on for dear life to the orderly world of his backyard.
"Friends are like the sunshine in the garden of life." In August, 82-year-old Leo enthusiastically reads aloud the saying that hangs in his garden. The following March, he translates the text in Dutch one last time: "…are the suns shine, in the morning, of the morning." He is the filmmaker’s father-in-law and is suffering from Alzheimer’s. By now, Leo spends most of his time in the contained world of his backyard. Every day, he inspects all the leaves, while the seasons elapse. But despite his diligent attempts, Leo’s garden runs ever wilder.
