Foreign Nightingale

Documentary examining the question of why young people choose to live and work for a while in a war zone. In the film, the Dutch directors Marjoleine Boonstra and Christine Nevejan follow Catherine Querel, a young French doctor who spends six months working for Medecins sans Frontières in a refugee camp near the Somali border. After a brief training in Paris Catherine Querel arrives in the African camp. Here the idealistic and uninhibited French woman clashes with the cynism of the medical team responsible for the welfare of about one hundred thousand refugees, many of whom are in very bad way. The documentary shows how Catherine's life changes drastically in a period of only six months.
