Protagonist Foeksia is a mite, especially when she is just hatched from the egg that wizard Kwark has found. The old bachelor thaws immediately on seeing his headstrong surrogate daughter. She performs all sorts of magic tricks, but he draws the line at her flying around on his toothbrush. By means of a magic charm, Foeksia grows a few feet taller, so she is ready for the witches' school. The premonitions about the wicked outside world obviously fall on deaf ears, because the curious mini-witch makes friends with a human child. Together, the duo tries to foil the plans of an unscrupulous property developer who wants to cut down the Heksenbos. Despite this menace, Foeksia and her fellow witches still find time to regularly burst out singing. To do justice to the fantasy in children's book writer Paul van Loon's work of the same name, the film makes ample use, by Dutch standards, of film magic: the film has some 200 visual effects.
