For the second part of her documentary series about the problems that highly educated women have finding a suitable partner, film-maker Marijke Jongbloed travelled to Singapore. No less than forty percent of highly educated women there are spinsters, a percentage that also worries the government. So a government-sponsored professional dating agency has been set up that organises, e.g., subsidised cruises for singles to meet. Despite this efficient measure, the desires of men and women in Singapore apparently differ greatly. Most men want a wife who dedicates herself to the traditional tasks of mother and housewife and not to her career.
