Documentary about the aged men on the bench in the Amsterdam Stopera, and their observations and remarks.
Boys Will Be is a documentary about the aged men on the bench in the Amsterdam Stopera, just as there are benches with aged men always and everywhere. In the hall of this modern glass, steel and brick structure, the same men, in the ages from sixty to ninety, have been sitting on the same bench for years. The group has a special bond with this place. They are former market vendors of the Waterlooplein. Where once they traded their wares, the modern Stopera is now located. From their islet, they observe the world passing by. And just as it befits old Amsterdam citizens, they comment on it with a full measure of cynical humour. The men no longer want any of it, they have a whole life behind them, they 'are'. This also makes Boys Will Be a film about agelessness.
