Stylised feature based on the novel La meche (1948) by the Belgian writer Lucy Veldhuizen-Marchal, who won the Grand Prix du Roman Français with it. In a gloomy fatherless family, tensions between mother and son rise when it becomes apparent that the son is in love with a chemist's wife suspected of murder. The production design was by Harry Ammerlaan, who as been nominated for the Professional Award for Production Design.
