Nineteen-year-old Moroccan-Dutch Adib wants to become a red beret. His authoritarian father does not want him to go and fight for the Netherlands as a commando. He wants him to choose for his family.
Adib (19) does not want to become a car mechanic with his own garage, like his father. He does the demanding training for the Special Forces. His strict Moroccan father does not get it: has he brought his son into the world, raised him and sent him to school so he can die for the Netherlands? The film follows two crucial days from Adib’s life: his last day as a civilian and his last day as a trainee commando. A lonely search for identity and a struggle with a generation gap.
