Documentary about Indonesia's view of Holland after 350 years as a colony and almost 50 years independence. Has that long history based on colonial domination resulted in anything beautiful? Or was that not possible after the relationship in the course of this century soured into dramatic love-hate? The film shows the Indonesian side of the hate-love relationship with its mother country and in a second layer it sketches the culture which forms the basis of the view of Holland. Several of those more or less directly involved in the struggle for independence describe their experiences in that period. A document just in time: who will be left to tell in ten years time?
