It starts with a New Year’s Eve party at an Amsterdam apartment. After ushering in the new year, three merrymakers who share a great loss drift away from the party and start walking around the city. It’s only when they truly face each other that they can move on with their lives. They experience their stroll as lasting only 24 hours, but in fact an entire year passes. The leaps in time, across the seasons, are equally unemphatic and self-evident. The film was made according to a strict concept; scenes were shot one day every month, for one year.
