What was once a squat on Amsterdam's Warmoesstraat, at number 139, now houses the artists initiative W139. This platform, founded in 1980 for young and talented artists, rebels against the official art world and is inspired by music and the street. In Double You Street, fifteen young film-makers portray the artists who have been important to the history of W139. The portraits, in the form of a videoclip, mini-documentary or cinematographic poem, are juxtaposed with interviews (with for instance Rob Scholte and Peter Giele), archive material and recent film material.
