Personal documentary (father portrays son) and coming-of-age story about Tobias: an optimistic, spontaneous and deaf young man. Pitiful, such a handicap? Not at all!

Tobias is deaf, but anything but pitiful. The cheerful young man turns what other people may call a handicap into his profession, because he goes to college at the only university for deaf students in the world and becomes a teacher of sign language. Personal documentary full of home-movie fragments, made by Alex de Ronde, director of the Amsterdam film theatre Het Ketelhuis and the father of Tobias, who describes the film as 'a documentary fairy tale’.
