Intimate portrait of Roma Juliano Westhiner (19), who at fifteen was already tipped as the Dutch boxing talent. Didderiëns followed the reticent sportsman for four formative years, leading up to the London Olympics.
At fifteen, Roma boy Juliano Westhiner was already tipped as the Dutch boxing talent. Since then, the teenager has been practising like mad under the supervision of his inseparable coach, ex-boxer Eric van den Heuvel. But where Eric’s voice resounds everywhere, the young boxer just listens quietly. In the caravan camp, too, the now nineteen-year-old Juliano has a strikingly bashful, rather withdrawn attitude amid the surrounding commotion and bustle. The filmmaker follows the boxing talent for four years. This yielded an intimate, humorous and remarkable portrait of Westhiner in his key formative years as a man, outside the ring, but also as a sportsman inside. Will he manage to qualify for the London Olympics?
