After having worked as a war photographer for years and suffering various traumas, award-winning photographer Jeroen Robert Kramer wants to make a fresh start as an artist in his hometown Beirut. Here, he meets Monsieur Khiar, a remarkable elderly man who despite the civil war has not lost his love of life, art and literature. Kramer wants to follow Monsieur Khiar, thus hoping to convert his own war scars into art. He develops a fascination, verging on obsession, with the Lebanese man when it turns out he does not want to be photographed.
